Slow news day

Well actually it isn’t really but I’m going with post that is even more parochial than usual.

As a quick glance to the right of this post will confirm I set up an e-mail account specifically for anyone wishing to contact the ‘Mere’.

I have received lots of e-mails from banks with whom I don’t hold accounts asking for lots of personal details, various African princes detailing not to be missed investment opportunities, about half a millions Euros worth of lottery wins (subject to administration charges) and several asking whether I would like to enlarge or reduce various parts of my anatomy.

However tonight I actually received my first communication from a proper person.

It was from none other than the estimable Jeremy Jacobs, prolific blogger, communicator extraordinaire and all round good egg who was more than kind by providing a testimonial for this most humble home of bloggery.

Little things and all that.

Whilst on the subject of expressing gratitude I would also like to thank The Thunder Dragon, Torque, Stu Savory, JMB, Rob (Broadsheet Rag), Ed Clarke, Bendy Girl, Crushed, ASP and Phil A for their comments on my ‘Blogging how do you do it?’ post on the 12th March.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Some useful advice was certainly gained. And it also proved that my own rather haphazard approach is probably more of the norm than I originally thought.

Not sure whether this should be a matter for relief or concern for everyone concerned though.

Update - I must now add Colin Campbell, Globus and Steve Green to the list of kind folks who added their advice and comments.

Your list of admirers is growing.

Nobody Important gets many of these emails too. I wonder exactly how many replies they actually receive.

As to blogging, most of us are just winging it, which is painfully obvious sometimes.

Happy to share my pearls of non-wisdom. Since I started advertising my email address I haven't even had much spam, let alone an actual correspondent. I take this as a compliment because when I once had a letter published in The Times I had a whole torrent of abuse from people I had "wronged".

I think 'winging it' must be nice middle class speak for ' youse are all talking out yer arses' Not that I ever do anything like that on my blog, oh no. Ahem.

Proper mail. Wow. I bow down in my admiration ;) BG
