Blog Birthday - One year on – A few numbers and words

Never thought this project would survive this long. It nearly didn’t on several occasions.

But I’m going to be a little self indulgent for once. Well a little more than I normally am at least.

My Favourite posts

On Ptah and intolerance

On Napoleon and conspiracy theories

The Apogee.

Getting the top 5 Newcomer in the Iain Dale rankings and 266th overall. Although that said the political stuff has dropped away a bit recently. Perhaps too many people saying the same thing better than I can! Being accepted into Blogpower and the Witanagemot. The rare occasions when people link directly to one of your posts, Steve Green, James Higham, Nich Starling, Tony Sharp, the Thunder Dragon and even Iain Dale to name but a few.

The Nadir.

When the ideas won’t come. When blogging feels like a chore rather than a bit of fun. I don’t take this terribly seriously but I think that there is a basic minimum quality standard of output that should be maintained and I often feel that I’m a little too close to that mark for comfort or credibility. When the computer blew up for three weeks in November.

The future.

I don’t know really. I’m not going to keep this up indefinitely. But as long as the goods days still out number the bad then as WSC put it one must ‘keep buggering on’. But I do think that a second anniversary is a tad unlikely.

I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank everyone who visits and comments here. If you’re on the links list then that definitely mean you!

For a hobby (and that’s really what this is) it’s a bit of a slog sometimes. And whilst I do this primarily for my own entertainment having you guys along side for the journey makes it all the more enjoyable.

Thank you.

Congratulations Grendel. It's a great accomplishment and a lot of work. Funnily enough I said the same thing on my one year anniversary last month, I doubt there will be a second. I felt obliged to keep going for a year at least, like passing some sort of test. Now the pressure is off, but I think it would be hard to leave all the people one meets through this endeavour.
So keep on keeping on.
