Good Eggs.

One can’t spend every hour invested in blog posting getting wound up about the ineffectual machinations of the Dark Lord, being worthy or serious and generally trying (and failing) to be too clever by half.

So rant mode is switched off for tonight and in its place I thought I would post a picture of an egg which I decorated for our eldest this evening as part of a project for school. The instructions brought home were for the children to decorate an egg as an interesting character. Wayne Rooney was cited as an example. How he qualifies as an interesting character is beyond me.

Anyway after some discussion we decided to enrol this free range Good Egg into the Beaver Scouts.

The other idea was to try to turn the egg into a facsimile Venus Fly Trap. Our eldest has, all of a sudden, become rather interested in exotic plants and so the kitchen windowsill now plays host to a Venus Fly trap and several cacti. An interest that may or may not outlive the month but that’s children for you.

I’m sure I’ll be back to my inadequate belligerency or dilettantish scientific noodlings next time but for tonight 'I am the egg man……goo goo g'joob'.

The things we do for our children. In house it was me, the mother who helped build volcanoes, etc. I'm glad to see the father in your household sharing this chore.

A word of advice, don't try to feed the Venus Fly trap hamburger meat as is often suggested. The kiss of death.

Eggcelent job, I say.

Brilliant work!

I killed a venus fly trap. Elder son's fascination with cacti lasted a much shorter time than the cacti did.
