Your views on an Avatar exchange

I was doing some light surfing a few days ago on the subject of my blog persona and came across some lovely little Grendelish pictures.

I do like using the Sutton Hoo helmet but I am aware that many others incorporate it into their own blogs designs, Guthrum to name one of many.

I have been wondering about changing for a while but being pretty indecisive about these things I though I would canvas you opinions.

I have picked my favourite of the possible new designs and placed along side the existing. Which do you like?

Grendel - The existing

Grendel - The potentially replacing

I'm also away for a few days so please have a look at the sites on my blog roll if lost for somewhere to go – wonderful ladies and gents all and a better read than you are likely to get here.

scholars, such as O'Keefe, identify Grendel with a Berserker, because of numerous associations that seem to point to this possibility.

Berserkers (or Berserks) were Norse warriors who were commonly understood to have fought in an uncontrollable rage or trance of fury; the berserkergang.

(The Úlfhéðnar (singular Úlfhéðinn) mentioned in the Vatnsdœla saga, Haraldskvæði and the Völsunga saga were said to wear the pelt of a wolf upon their heads when they entered battle. (For example: Warinhari, Haimric, Theudberga, Hlodwig etc.)
Wikipedia Berserker.

Perhaps this is a theme you could follow.

Well, I suppose an avatar that reprsents-er-Grendel, might be more related to a blogger called Grendel than the helmet of Raedwald of East Anglia.

Count yourself lucky. I have an avatar that appears on bloglog, technorati, all over my blog, except on my blogger comments, because I can't bloody save the thing as jpg.

I quite like the second one, the one of Grendel himself rather than the helmet. The picture reminds me of my Uncle Tarquin!

Second one for me.

I like both, they're both very distinctive and work just as well as thumbnails. I go for change if you're bored, you can always change it back.
