One of my favourite presents (much lobbied for) was a personal digital radio.
As I have probably mentioned before I do listen to the radio a lot. Mainly Radio 5 (or Radio 4 when 5 are extensively covering some ghastly Horse racing or golfing event).
No I have for ages wanted to get portable access to Radio 5’s Sports Extra channel. Helpful for coverage of some football matches. But best of all being able to listen to Test Match Special. Ball by ball coverage, ohhs ahhs, conversations about cakes, birds, the skyline around the venue. The gentle mocking and humour and the always highly informed commentary. Well Geoff Boycott aside.
So whilst sitting at my desk fiddling around with Contracts and the like I had one ear piece in and savoured every moment of the (rain delayed) start to the first day of the first test between
Best day at work ever? No. I still had plenty of the boring stuff to do, people to see and staff to spoon feed. And I suppose it’s not exactly the right thing to do, to be listening to the match during the hours when I’m supposed to be fully attentive to other stuff.
But the day seemed to go by a little quicker than usual.
Just out of interest do you do anything that skirts along just on the right side of acceptable behaviour in the work place. I don’t feel guilty but additional vindication is, of course, always welcome.
