Guest Poster II

Perhaps the most popular post to appear here in the last year was that produced by our eldest, Freddy. It certainly elicited more comments than my own rather feeble efforts.

A couple of days ago he asked me if I was still running my ‘website thing’. I said that I was. ‘Why?’ he reasonably asked. ‘Oh it’s something to do. It’s better than just watching television.’ I replied. ‘Do people still read it?’ Fred said swooping in with the killer supplementary question. ‘ Occasionally’ I said. Obviously one has to maintain a positive outlook for ones children. Fred thought for a few moments. ‘Could I write something else for people to read? he asked. Naturally I agreed.

So with minor corrections for grammar and spelling, they don’t seem to be doing too much of that at ‘skool’ yet, Fred’s second tilt at blogging……

‘Hello,

I am 7 now. My birthday was in January.

I really like school now. My favourite thing there is the science experiments. We have made electrical circuits with lights and switches. I have got some of these at home as well.

I like Chinese food now. When I stayed with my Nana and Granddad they took me to a Chinese restaurant and I had sweet and sour which was very nice. I did try to use chopsticks but they were difficult.

I have been at Beavers for a year now. I got a special badge for that last week. I’ve got lots of badges now. I am trying to get my Beavers ‘Bronze Badge (Ed-Chief Scouts Bronze Award) which is the best badge you can get at Beavers. I am going to show the Beavers something about all of the planets to get the badge. I like Jupiter best because it’s so big and it’s made of gas.

Thank you for reading my work again.

Love Freddy’

Normal service will be resumed………

Hello Freddy. Thanks for taking the time to write things for us to read. It's great that you're enjoying beavers. My little girl likes sweet and sour too, but her favourite is Squid, which is a bit funny.

I think you should get your own blog!

Hello Freddy,
Thank you for your writing. You're much more grown up than I am now, I can't use chopsticks at all and I don't like Chinese food. I like Indian food though, do you?

Hello Freddy... Aren't you a bit too old to start political blogging?

Luv,

Harry.

Nice to hear from you again Freddy. It's great that you like school since you have to spend a lot of time there.
Good luck with your Bronze Badge for Beavers. Will you be going into Cubs next year?

I love Chinese food too but chopsticks are hard to use but I'm sure you'll master them if you persevere.

Persevere, Freddy, persevere. Look what it did for your daddy.

Belated congratulations to your birthday, Freddy!

We have been doing electrical circuits at home, too. My boys like the one best where you add a small motor which runs a rotor. With enough battery power, the rotor will take off and fly to the ceiling. Pretty cool.

Good luck with the presentation on planets. Sounds like you should be getting your bronze badge!

Grendel, hasn't anyone told you never to perform with animals or children?

Hi Freddy, it's nice to hear from you. I'm glad to hear that you go to Beavers; you can learn a lot of useful stuff there and make many fiends. Womble On Tour Junior II (that's my son) used to go and he really enjoyed it. Womble On Tour Junior I (that's my daughter) used to go to Rainbows and Brownies and now goes to Guides.
I was a bit sad when they said Pluto couldn't be a planet any more. Do you think it should be one ?

Hello again Freddy, I'm glad you decided to write on your dad's blog instead of watching television. You should ask your dad to make you a blog of your own that you could write in every week about beavers and planets. I have two sons and they were both beavers and cubs and scouts and they went on great camping trips.
